Cape Kidnappers' Head Chef Tim Pickering strives to source his fresh produce as locally as possible, and with our idyllic Hawke’s Bay location, his “food miles” have always been relatively few!
Now with our new vegetable garden in place and its close proximity to his kitchen, Tim is able to create daily menus based on what is freshest, utilizing many vegetables straight from the land and offering the most seasonal produce to our guests.
He also loves showing off the new garden, so see if you can organize a tour when you next visit! There are several varieties of lettuce, 37 different types of tomatoes, capsicums, beetroot, courgettes, sweet corn, peas, eggplant, potatoes, herbs, strawberries
and more - all growing happily. There are even hens, producing lovely fresh eggs daily.
Our Gardening team can share with you the story behind each plant, what we are harvesting and how we use the produce in our daily menus.
As the garden further develops, the Cape Kidnappers menu will be increasingly 'Farm fresh'!
