Modes of Transport:
By Airplane
Air New Zealand operates at least 8 scheduled flights daily from Auckland (55 minutes) or Wellington (50 minutes) to Napier (Hawke's Bay) airport. The aircrafts are either 66-seat ATR Aerospatiale twin turbo-prop or 33-seat twin turbo-prop Saab 340s. Charter jets and propeller planes can also be organized. Cape Kidnappers will meet your flight upon request.
By Helicopter
Helicopters operate nationwide and travel from Auckland, Wellington or Taupo can be arranged. Travel direct to Cape Kidnappers from Auckland is approximately 1 hour 45 minutes, Wellington flight time is 1 hour 20 minutes and from Taupo the flight time is 30-35 minutes.
By Car
From Auckland (allow 6 hours)
Follow State Highway 1 to Taupo,
turn left into State Highway 5 to Eskdale
turn right into State Highway 2 to Clive (via Napier)
At Clive turn left into Mill Road then follow the signs to Cape Kidnappers
From Wellington (allow 4 hours)
Follow State Highway 2 to Clive (via Hastings)
Just before Clive township turn right into Mill Road
then follow the signs to Cape Kidnappers
From Taupo (allow 2.5 hours)
Take State Highway 5 to Eskdale,
turn right into State Highway 2 to Clive (via Napier)
At Clive turn left into Mill Road then follow the signs to Cape Kidnappers

An exciting option is by helicopter, which takes just under 3 hours door-to-door. Commercial aircraft fly from Kerikeri Airport (25 minutes drive from Kauri Cliffs) to Napier Airport, with one stop in Auckland. The flight time by this method is around 2 hours, and approximately 4 hours door-to-door. Chartered flights are also available from Kerikeri to the Napier.
