A core member of television’s River Cottage team for more than 11 years and now the Group Head Chef, Gill Meller makes the most of ingredients and the natural qualities they possess through his simple, seasonal cooking to deliver earthy and rustic dishes that are truly mouth-watering!
Bringing with him nurturing flavours and philosophies from the small fishing town of Lyme, in Dorset to the rolling green hills of Hawke’s Bay, Gill is sure to inspire.
The lucky group who gather at The Farm at Cape Kidnappers will discover how to grow, source and cook food in ways that will enhance their lives, increase their wellbeing, and connect them to natural, sustainable and ethical sources of food.
At this stunning location, guests will begin their ultimate foodie experience with a Friday evening, informal reading of Gather over a glass of wine with Chef Gill. Discover new recipes and discuss the beauty of cuisine inspired by its natural landscapes.
Saturday morning will begin with an expedition to The Farm vegetable gardens, gathering special produce for a Gill Meller cooking class. Utilising local produce, Gill will demonstrate how to prepare some of his favourite dishes that are easy to replicate at home. Watch and learn as he combines the right produce with a no-fuss recipe to let the ingredients sing.
That night experience the weekend’s highlight – a five-course gourmet tasting menu based on recipes from Chef Gill’s new book and matched to Alpha Domus wines. This second generation family owned winery produce premium wines that are true to varietal character and a reflection of their unique Hawke’s Bay terroir. Winemaker Barry Riwai will host the dinner and speak on the thoughtful wine matches.
With plenty of spare time to enjoy the luxurious surroundings at The Farm, this is a weekend to gather friends together and indulge in simple pleasures delivered by a master.
Event tariff for Gather is NZ$1,700 + 15% GST per person, based on double occupancy and includes:
- Two nights’ suite accommodation at The Farm at Cape Kidnappers;
- Fireside discussion of Gill Meller’s cookbook Gather, and gather and cooking demo with Gill Meller;
- Pre-dinner drinks and canapes, full daily breakfast and complimentary non-alcoholic mini-bar;
- Gourmet dinner on Friday and Saturday nights, including [WINE] wine pairings on the Saturday;
- Guest's choice of a day of unlimited green fees OR a 50 minute spa treatment per person per stay.
For guests wishing to stay an additional night, a special tariff of $600.00 per person per night + GST for double occupancy is available. The tariff for additional nights includes pre-dinner drinks, dinner, breakfast and complimentary non-alcoholic minibar.
