Summer Series

As part of our Summer Series we are excited to host a range of special activities on certain days of the week to entertain all guests. All summer series activities are complimentary, but may be subject to change as some are weather dependent or adjusted for holiday dates.

Summer Series activities begin Tuesday, November 15, 2016 and run through to Sunday, April 23, 2017.

After a short walk along Trigg Road, you will arrive at the Aviary at Cape Sanctuary. Kaka and Kakariki are rare native New Zealand parrots. On your visit to the aviary you will have the luxury of learning about the breeding program that is in place for these special birds.

You will also have the unique opportunity of learning about the Cape Sanctuary which is now a haven for protected native birds, including the iconic North Island Brown kiwi.

This summer we are delighted to offer our guests the opportunity to experience our spectacular vegetable garden here at The Farm. Our gardeners will give an exclusive and informative tour around our vegetable garden.

Hawke’s Bay is widely known as the Fruit Bowl of New Zealand, and with its abundance of vegetables, berries and prolific herbs, our vegetable garden fits that description perfectly. Fresh seasonal fruit and vegetables are the key to our daily changing menus and you now have the chance to head down to the Farm Garden where you will learn a lot about the fresh produce featured on our menus.

There are 6, 000 acres of farmland to explore at Cape Kidnappers. Join our guide and take an invigorating walk. Depending on the weather, your walk may follow tracks over farmland where you will encounter sheep and cattle meandering slowly over the hillsides while enjoying the magnificent view out across the vast Pacific Ocean, or through areas of native New Zealand bush.

The Southern Hemisphere is host to a magnificent array of stars and constellations. With its semi-isolated position, Cape Kidnappers is a wonderful place to view these skies as there is little pollution from surrounding lights with our astronomer.

Join our shepherd for an introduction to life on a 6000 acre working sheep farm. You will have the opportunity to witness farm dogs at work and be amazed by the ability and intelligence of these highly trained animals. The shepherds are always happy to answer any questions you may have.

Hawke’s Bay is one the top wine regions in New Zealand. We would like to offer you the opportunity to join our resident Sommelier Tom Riedl in our Wine Cellar to taste some of the finest wine the country has to offer.

While staying at Cape Kidnappers, you have an internationally renowned golf course at your disposal. The course is rated as number one in New Zealand, 16th in the World, and number six outside of the USA. The course is not only incredibly beautiful, but also incredibly challenging.

This summer we will be offering a clinic to any of our guests here at The Farm that wish to either be introduced to the game, or hone their skills. Our resident PGA professionals will be examining the short game, full swing, and the nuances of navigating our exceptional Tom Doak Designed Golf Course.
